The mysterious and ancient Nazca culture is known for the masterful pottery, fine weavings, medical advances, drawings of animals and the famous Nazca lines: geometrical figures, and birds, range up to 300 meters (1000 ft) in size. They are samples of an enormous richness in knowledge and culture, preserved for about 2000 years. The Nazca Lines are gigantic geoglyphes located in the Nazca Desert, a high arid plateau that stretches 53 miles between the towns of Nazca and Palpa on the Pampas de Jumana in Peru. They were created by the Nazca culture between 200 BC and 600 AD. There are hundreds of individual figures, ranging in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, and lizards. The Nazca lines cannot be recognized as coherent figures except from the air. Our flight, lasting approximately 40 minutes will take us over the geoglyphes. A full briefing will be given before the flight.
