Our Classic Trail Program, especially designed for adventurous travelers, starts with a pre departure information meeting to answer any questions you may have about the Inca trail; it allows trekkers to get valuable recommendations about hiking on different ecological levels of the magical Andes. The trail is built of granite slabs, and can be mastered by less experience walkers. Indeed, it is the most spectacular challenge with overnight stay in tents for three nights. We use high quality camping gear, provide big and nutritious meals and you can even determine your own menu on our menu set. Let us know if there are any specific food requirements such as vegetarian, diabetic or other. Also, please let us know if you have medical requirements or specific interests such as interest in Biology, Astronomy, Flora, Fauna, and etcetera. Our company crew is really trained; our guides are bilingual, equipped with a first aid kit, an oxygen tank, excellent porters, kitchen crew and a head porter. On the morning of the fourth day we arrive at Machu Picchu via the sun gate and will be able to enjoy the sun rise. After our guided tour and lunch, we return to Cusco.

TOUR DESCRIPTION

DAY ONE:

CUSCO – WAYLLABAMBA
Cusco, Pisqacuchu km 82, LLactapata ruins and Wayllabamba

Our grand adventure starts whit a pick up from your hotel at approximately 6:00 A.M. There is a fantastic drive through the viewpoints of the highland and the sacred valley which takes us to Pisqaquchu, kilometer 82 starting point of our hike which is around 2,800 meters (,9187 ft) above sea level. Crossing the footbridge we hike along the Tara trees, Cactus, Bromeliads and Spanish moss forest. After an explanation of the LLactapata ruins, we lunch at Tarayoc place. An easy day 12 kilometers (8 miles) up and down mountainside with a six to seven hours hike to reach the first base camp at Wayllabamba, at 3000 meters (9,843 ft) above sea level. We have afternoon tea once the camp is set up, with dinner around 7:00 P.M. Then to bed in preparation for an early start tomorrow.

DAY TWO:

WAYLLABAMBA – PACAYMAYU

Our grand challenge against nature starts getting up at 5:00 A.M. We pack up our belongings, enjoy breakfast, stretch our legs and then we leave from 3,000 meters (9843 ft) up to Dead Woman Pass, the highest point on our hike at 4,200 meters (13,780 ft). We have two official breaks and water stations before getting to the top. Walk slowly and surely, take some breaks along the way, as many as you need, going at your own pace. Breathe in and out deeply two to three times at each break to catch your breath. We start climbing gently onto the mountain and under native woodland polylepis forest through LlulluchaPampa at 3,850 meters (12,632 ft) with spectacular views of the landscapes and Inca trail ahead to the first pass. We start descending a stairway to the forested Pacaymayu Valley, the second base camp at 3,500 meters (11484 ft). We have afternoon tea once the camp is set up, with dinner around 7:00 P.M.

We sleep early again in preparation for an early start the next day.

DAY THREE:

PACAYMAYU – WIÑAYWAYNA

Our best day for adventure starts at 5:00 A.M. We pack up things, enjoy breakfast, stretch our legs and then we leave from 3,500 meters (11,484 ft) toward the steps of Runkuracay ruins, with visit and guided tour. We keep ascending a steep mountainside as we reach the second pass of Runkuracay at 3,950 meters (12,960 ft) which gives us a spectacular view point of the Pumasillo range. Descending to Sayacmarca ruins we can view the incredible snow capped ranges and forested hills flanking the Aobamba valley. Continuing along the steep paved stone path and under cloud forest through a colorful riot of orchids, bromeliads, mosses and fern, we will find Phuyupatamarca; the third pass at 3,600 meters (11,812 ft). After lunch we start descending the mountainside at Phuyupatamarca ruins then a long stairway towards Wiñaywayna to the third camp side at 2,650 meters (8,695 ft) the largest and most beautiful of the Inca trail sites. In the afternoon we have a guided tour of the ruins, a break for tea and then dinner. After dinner we have a celebration with the kitchen crew and the porters in order to thank them for their hard work.

DAY FOUR:

WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU
