Tour of the last refuge of the Incas, Choquequirao is a trek designed for travelers interested in ancient historical sites. Choquequirao means cradle of gold. It’s and Inca city almost as impressive as Machu Picchu but it is not reachable by train or any other form of public or tourist transportation. Here for it will be likely for you to have the site all to yourself! The trek allows a meeting with the Vilcabamba mountain range and the Apurimac Valley. Its altitude is around 2800 to 3000 meters. Choquequirao used to be a magnificent religious center, which resisted the Spanish’s conquest. There is a large amount of original enclosures, all samples of incredible Incan architecture and high technology. On the trek we will be surrounded by spectacular views of different mountain ranges of the grand Apurimac gorge. This is also the habitat of the Andean Condor. The flora and fauna are very colorfully along the way to our starting point of the hike in the village of Cachora. Without any doubt, this tour is an amazing opportunity to meet with the Inca legacy and the Peruvian ancestors.
