Puno, the Uros Floating Island

ITINERARY
Our tour starts by collecting you from your hotel. We then take a motor-boat to visit the famous Uros Floating Islands, northwest of Puno on Lake Titicaca. The Uros Islands are a group of 40 floating islands which provide a glimpse of one of the regions oldest cultures. The islands are man-made, woven from Totora reeds and the dense roots that these plants develop support the island. The islanders live in huts made from the same materials and travel from island to island in boats also made from the reeds. The local inhabitants make their living by fishing and trapping birds. They also make weavings, collages and musical instruments to sell to the visiting tourists.
