TOUR DESCRIPTION

DAY ONE

LIMA AND CUSCO

Upon arrival we will meet you at the Lima airport. You will fly to Cusco on a morning flight. We meet you at the Cusco airport to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. You will have a day at leisure to acclimatize to the altitude with only little walking around the city. Today’s lunch and dinner are not included. Overnight at the hotel in Cusco.

DAY TWO

URUBAMBA VARIETY TOUR
From 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
Maras, moray, and the salt mines

Our guided Urubamba Variety tour starts by collecting you from your hotel. We then transfer you to Maras in approximately 50 minutes. Maras is situated at about 50 kilometers northwest of Cusco. Its altitude is at 3,300 meters (10,824 ft). It was a pre-Inca settlem

ent and around this area there are a large amount of pottery pieces from the Chanapata culture. Its occupation began when the Cusquenian Inca noblemen were dispossessed of their palaces. Many of its houses are emblazoned with Spanish nobility coats of arms on their lintels.

After Maras town, we will visit Moray which is situated at about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) southwest from the dusty roads of Maras. This used to be an experimental biological station where the Incas domesticated and acclimatized wild vegetable species. A pocketed lunch at a beautiful spot.

At last, we will visit Salineras. These salt pans are said to be an Inca salt mine. It was constructed in a slope of the Qaqawiñay Mountain. We then return to Cusco where we will leave you at your hotel

DAY THREE

MAJESTIC VALLEY
From 8:00 A.M. to 1 P.M.
Ollantaytambo and Patacancha village

Our guided Majestic Valley tour starts by collecting you from your hotel. We transfer you to the village of Ollantaytambo town in approximately one hour. Ollantaytambo is situated at about 68 kilometers (47.2 miles) northwest of Cusco; its altitude is 2,700 meters (8,856 ft). The town used to be a royal estate of the Inca Pachacuteq, and stands at a strategic spot, enclosed by mountains that hide some of the most impressive ruins from Inca and pre-Inca times.

We visit the old village which is one of the best preserved Incan settlements and built in blocks called Canchas that are still inhabited nowadays. One Cancha houses several families.

While following the Patakancha River upstream we can observe large amounts of Incan farming terraces that are always in use, many of them still maintain their aqueducts made by the Incas. We continue the trail and on the left bank of the rivulet we find Pumamarka (Puma’s town) at 20 minutes from Ollantaytambo. Its altitude is 3,600 meters (11,810 feet). This surely used to be a very important village in Incan times.

Higher up we get to Patackancha at over 3,700 meters (12,000 ft). Patacancha is a typical Andean community living according with its original life-style; traditions, costumes, and religion. A definite must for those interested in knowing more about native communities. A pocketed lunch at a beautiful spot.

Continuing, we will talk with the local inhabitants to learn about their traditions, customs and life style. Afterwards, we will return to Cusco, where our services will end by leaving you at your hotel.

DAY FOUR

SHORT SACRED VALLEY
From 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
Pisac ruins and the Pisac Market

Our guided short Inca Valley tour starts by collecting you from your hotel. In approximately 45 minutes we transfer you to the Pisac archaeological complex which is located about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) towards the northwest of Cusco. Its altitude is at 3,400 meters (11,000 ft). The Inca and pre-Inca settlements are on the upper side of the mountain. There is a cemetery with original Inca graves, Inca trails, tunnels, storehouses, towers and many stairways.

We will continue with a visit to The Pisac Market. This market is a highly recommended artisan market, especially on market days and Sundays. The peasants from the surrounding communities descend from the mountains in order to perform their commercial transactions. The colorful clothing of peasants is very showy. Their native hats make them very easy to distinguish. At 11:00 A.M. there is a catholic mass in the church for the local populace in Incan language. Afterwards we will return to Cusco.

DAY FIVE

MACHU PICCHU TOUR
From 6:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Cusco, Machu Picchu, the Guardian House, the Tour and Cusco

Our guided Rediscovering tour starts by collecting you from your Hotel. We transfer you to the train station. We either take the first train departing Poroy at 20 minutes from Cusco or the first train departing from Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley, to Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is located at 112 kilometers (69 miles) northwest of Cusco. Its altitude is 2,450 meters (8,038ft). This is without doubt one of the most fascinating wonders and mysterious cities in the world. We take the bus from Aguas Calientes to the Machu Picchu Inca citadel.

We will first start walking up to the Guardian House. On the way up; we will enjoy the fantastic views of city, the landscapes and the views. Our guide will show you the best look out points and places to take stunning photographs. After this we will begin the tour. The tour consists of walking and visiting each sector, section by section. The tour provides a personal meeting with the Inca legacy and its energy is connected step by step with each enclosure, temple, altar and nature. The city is incredible in any season.

After the tour we will enjoy lunch at a restaurant in the village. In the afternoon we will return to Cusco by train and transfer you back to your Cusco hotel and Dinner at a restaurant.

DAY SIX

CUSCO – LIMA

Transfer to airport for your flight to Lima. Depending on your flight time optional tours of the city and its museums are available.
